Single-segment 100% run of Metroid Fusion, done on April 25 2004. The first recorded 100% of Metroid Fusion, was the world record until July 4 2004.
Author's comments: This is my first run recorded on cart, not on an emulator, and I don't think it's bad at all. Well, I decided to do this run after I started to get better times in single segments than I had done in previous segmented runs, so I recorded one. This is, at the moment, my best 100% time, although I intend to do a segmented one in the near future.
Anyway, to the good stuff. Overall, the run went pretty well, although there were some glaring errors here and there. An example is the BOX fight, which was just...bad. Before and during the run, I decided upon which tricks I was going to do, and which I was going to opt out of. An example of one which I decided against is the TRO SA-X evasion techiniques. Instead, I just followed it out of the room, avoiding probable death. My success rate with the fast method of room was very small, and, after multiple near destructions of my SP due to excessive anger, I gave it a miss.
I tried to include some of the more difficult or dangerous tricks in the run, but not if it would ultimately cause a restart should I mess it up. An example is the Energy tank before Nightmare, with which I drop onto the pit blocks and grab the ledge, saving a bunch of seconds. Had I stuffed this up, I would have lost 30 seconds to a minute looping back round after killing Nightmare to grab it.
The actual route I take in grabbing the items is entirely my own, most of which I came up with many months earlier. Over multiple 100% runs, the route eventually was perfected and enscribed onto my brain, causing great stress whenever I try a 1% run. This means that I very rarely do something stupid like miss an item, or take my ARCi route in ARCii, or whatever, so there is not much worry about that.
So thats that. I could probably get a 1:15 single segment if I were more strict on whether or not to restart, but, with other runs to do, I wont be doing it any time soon.
